Hi Folks, Kim here, the intrepid owner of CF&k. I’m usually pretty quiet here on the interwebs but something happened at the shop today that i personally feel like i need to address. Bear with me here, this is a bit long. A customer came in today, and before they identified themselves as someone who wanted to purchase food, they asked to use the restroom. Our employee stated that the restrooms are for customers only, as is our long standing policy (there’s a reason for this but that’s a story for another day). Upon being told this, the not-yet-a- customer stormed out angrily, which is their prerogative. Unfortunately for all involved, they came back in to give us a piece of their mind. This is where i take issue. This grown human person then laid into our staff member so hard and so quickly that i felt glad that i happened to be standing within earshot. I honestly could not believe the things that were shouted at me but directed at our team member. This minderstanding led to an ADULT using such vitriolic language to a younger person that my jaw almost hit the floor. Our staff member was visibly shaken, and with good reason. We know, this customer doesn’t represent even the tiniest fraction of our customers. But I am here to say THIS IS NOT OK. It is never ok to treat others this way under any circumstance. Simply because we work in food service we are not beneath you. We are professionals who choose every day to show up for the love of food and hospitality to try to make your lives easier. Let me say it again for everyone in the back-we CHOOSE this life because we love it and we are proud of what we do. We do not deserve this kind of treatment and I won’t stand for it in my house. A grown ass adult should know that this is not acceptable and we won’t stand for it. Making another human cry over Chicken Salad will not be tolerated. If you take issue with us, please let us know respectfully and we’ll bend over backwards to fix our mistake. But don’t do us dirty like someone did today. Or you won’t be welcome back. Peace.
